I’m the 39%!

I tend to like numbers. So when I saw these stats I thought them kind of cool.  Hope you do.  In 2010:

  • 62% of American households lived with a pet
  • 39% of American households lived with a dog
  • 33% of American households lived with a cat
  • 11% of American households lived with fish
  • 5% lived with birds
  • 4% lived with small animals (rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs)
  • 4% lived with reptiles
  • 2% lived with horses

By contrast, 35% of American households lived with children.

This according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA) Nat’l Pet Owners Survey, 2011 – 2012.
